How best to get from a pl-259 connector to a Tecsun PL-880?

Been writing a fair bit for SWLing.com blog, and I will be testing an antenna preselector on a couple of radios. The output of the preselector is a coax cable, pl-259 on both ends. One of the receivers has an SO-239 input; no problem.

The other is a Tecsun PL-880, which has a whip antenna and a socket for plugging in the auxiliary wire antenna. What would be the best way to get the PL-880 hooked up to the preseslector?

As that is an active preselector, pay close attention to the gain settings. Unlike the instruction sheet I would NOT set the gain to maximum, especially with a portable. I'd say 40% is a good starting point. Otherwise you will likely swamp the 880 front end, causing overloading

Hopefully you will do this test over a period of time. One day is nowhere near sufficient to make any conclusions, as propagation can and often does change from day to day.

I sacrificed a Comet HS-10 adapter cable and mated it with an antenna connector that came with my Sony ICF-2010. The Comet can be found here: Comet Antennas HS-10 Comet Adapter Cables | DX Engineering I'm pretty sure the same can be made with a mono plug of the correct size.
