Hi all,

Brand new naive user here.

I have a new Pro-96, programming cable, P96 software installed and have joined here.

I'm looking to get Harford County MD trunk info into my radio.

I keyed in some stuff manually on another Pro-96, but don't want to go through that all over again.

How do I download xxx.p96 files from this site? Or where are instructions on how to do so. Have gotten this far:

http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=TRSDB&sid=2846

but can go no further and have been there a day playing.

Can someone pse advise?

Tks ... Steve WA3SWS Steve@swssec.com

I have yet to find a repository on RR for files , with win 96 you can do a file web import and build your own files , to get started it might be a bit easier to join the pro 96 group at yahoo and check their file section for your area for a p96 to start with and expand from there .
hope that helps

Hi George,

Can you or someone be more specific to an admitted newbie?

I have files from someone who sent them from W96, but W96 won't open them, saying invalid files. Am looking for Harford County MD which is relatively new and no files on any of the Yahoogroups sites.

I manually keyed in the 9 channels and hear what I presume to be all the traffic, but have no IDs or alphas. I have all the data in the file from the friend (who is on the road and can't bail me out) but don't know how to do anything intelligent with it in W96.

The info on RR I had. I was under the impression there were actual files along with the text pages. My bad.

Is there a beginner's list somewhere for W96? I come from the old crystal and dynamotor days ...

My wife drove a tanker when we got married, then had to give it up due to medical.

Tks ... Steve WA3SWS

Thank you Seamusg.

Worked, and I'm running now. Still at the very beginning of the learning curve though.

The Help file for W96 said it will export but not import XML files, so I thought I was out of luck. Apparently the program is newer than the Help file. Took some playing around and no feedback to the user so it was working/importing and I didn't know it.

I am impressed with the performance of the Pro-96. I'm very hard of hearing, and live 6 miles from the EOC/main site. I hear the 800 crisper and better coverage than the old UHF analog system. Looks like the county indeed got something for their/our/my money. And this site and P96 makes it all the friendlier. The scanner is a tool for me, not a toy.

Appreciate all .... Steve WA3SWS Steve@swssec.com

Good to see you are getting somewere with win96 , I havent looked in the data base on Harford County MD , but if it is a mot system all you need for ferqs are the control chs and alts .

as far as my truck I have been down for a few months doing home hospis care for mom , down to days now, but have been building files for the western states . I picked up a pro 2096 in march and lost to temptation and got a pro96 this week. next stop will be ohma for a NEW tractor and back on the road.
I do recomend yahoo groups also there forums on 2096 96 GRE ect ect and might be one on your state.
good luck and just ask , there are several members that will give help or point were to go ..

ghk n0zed... aprs n0zed-3 again soon
