I recently imported from Radio Reference frequencies for my location. But when there is traffic on a specific channel it doesn't say where it's from. It only says an I.D. number. I want to know how to figure out where that channel is from and then change the name so it tells me what department is speaking. I hope I have made this to where you can understand. I'm not good with the technical stuff.

If I am understanding correctly, you are getting some traffic on a channel that has no name and is just a TGID number?

That probably means that it has not been identified and is not in the radioreference database. You'll have to listen to it for a while and try to determine the usage. Once you do, be sure to submit it to the database so others can benefit from your discovery!

Or do you mean that no information other than the TGID is being displayed for all TGs? If so then what scanner are you using and how are you programming it?

I'm guessing it's a TGID. It comes up as "Ashtabula I.D. 54505".

What system is this on? Also, do all talkgroups display like that or just this one in particular?

I'm not sure what you mean by "system". It's a Uniden BCD996XT and I'm using Freescan. Only the I'D' numbers show for this group which is titled ASHTABULA.

I mean which radio system are you listening to? It is analog conventional? Is it Ohio MARCS-IP?

I'm using Freescan and importing from Radio Reference.
I'm not familiar with Freescan, but typically when you do the System import it asks you the type of description that you want. Alpha Tag, Description, or numeric.

Look for that setting in Freescan before you import and choose Alpha Tag (or something similar)

Ok. I will keep a look out for that setting. Thank you.
