Is there any way to pinpoint this a bit more? That title is vague. I like knowing which department it is.
It's a Statewide Local Events talk group. It does not have a specific purpose or user. In this case it is being used by an agency in Ashtabula County. The only way to ID it, is by monitoring.

The information from the database is all user submitted... These records don't come from any official source (ie FCC, etc.). The description you are seeing was submitted by a user (or users) who monitored the talkgroup and then submitted their description of who they were hearing.

If you can narrow down the identity of that talkgroup more to your liking then you can change the description in FreeScan and upload it to your scanner. You might also submit that information back to the RR database so that it can be updated for everyone.

I will listen to it more and see if I can pinpoint it down. Then I'll change the name through Freescan. Then I'll submit it to RR. Thank you !!!!

In this case, it was created by MARCS, not user input. It's designation is XLECOM2 which is Law Enforcement 2, it's use is Interop and it's available Statewide. So it's not tied to a specific location.

The “Ashtabula” you’re seeing on the display is likely the name of the transmitter site you are monitoring. It’s not in any way indicative of who you are listening to, just tells you where the signal is coming from. Being a statewide radio system it has many transmitter sites spread out to provide coverage for the whole state as can be seen on the database page for Ohio MARCS posted earlier by gcopter1.

I am not sure what you mean? So, this information was submitted to the RR DB by an official affiliated with MARCS?
The information for special TG's like XLECOM (which is statewide) were posted in the RR DB when MARCS-IP P25 first went live. Typically these were the new MARCS-IP P25 TG numbers for talk groups that had existed in the prior MARCS Moto Type II system.

But that talkgroup was submitted by a RR user at some point to be added to the database.

My point was to say that the entries in the database are only as good as we, the RR members, make them. There is no other public source for this information. If someone finds a better description/explanation for a talkgroup, they should submit it to be added/changed in the database... so that it benefits everyone.
