• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

How do you program a G5 Unication Pager to work Fire Department? (South Carolina)

I have been attempting to tinker with the Unication PPS and figure out how I can make a trunked system act the same as a Minitor 6 (VHF). We have both systems, we have digital and analog tones. We also use a simulcast system for our pagers currently (So our digital frequency comes over our VHF system).

Everytime I put our 800MHz frequencies into the pager and input the appropriate TGID (Dec)-(Hex) and utilize the P25 portion for tones it pulls over other talk groups. I have tried using the Binding method on Trunked TG-Scan and I have tried with Trunked TG-Monitor. I have not been able to make any of them work.

Our system works like this: We transmit and receive on one 800MHz frequency and includes tones. We have four channels total, a Dispatch, TAC 1, TAC 2, and a Roaming Channel. When I put my program into the pager, I hear other agencies and I have identified them by the TGID that displays on the pager and I have triple checked to make sure they are not attached to the trunking system list.

I would love to see how another department makes it work for them!

The knob needs to be set to Trunking TG-Scan and the binding feature set to Sub-Group Feature in order for it to alert. If you have it set to monitor, you will receive any TG that comes across the site.

How exactly do you want it to handle alerting? You can have it receive traffic from dispatch, as well as alert, or you could set it up to remain silent until a tone is sent.

I want to have a program for both. I have tried the binding function by sub group and changed it to manual monitor, and the pager still pulls traffic from other talk groups that aren’t supposed to be associated with that channel
