Hi,
I know Ive posted about this before, but I want to know what kind of reception quality others seem to get when monitoring MARCS mobilely. I have a BC296D.
If Im near a tower, or on flat land (duh) it comes in great. However, if I'm downtown, in a valley, or towards the outer fringes of one tower (Where my scanner will jump back and forth between the tower I left and the next tower), I get scattered digital, some cutting it out. Not all of the conversation is intelligible. Despite that, the data comes in clear as it identifies what TG its on, I just dont hear the conversation, or bits and pieces. I did find out that adjusting sound quality makes a difference sometimes.
Im wondering if this is an issue actual MARCS users also have -like they dont Rx, or Tx well if they are say 'downtown cleveland' or something or in a valley. Or, I am wondering if I can do better with my setup.
I have a 93 corvette and am using an am/fm scanner coupler. The cheap, unbalanced kind. Before I get flamed, I should mention the coupler works quite well for what I am doing (Except CB, where my range is short) with it (like monitoring PD in the area Im in)....I also cant trash the looks of my car by putting a huge whip antenna on it. monster truck yes....
I tried an Antennex antenna at a standstill and was not impressed. ALthough the true test would be mobile driving into the fringe-reception areas.
but lets keep to my main question...how is your MARCS reception near the junction of towers, in valleys, by buildings, etc. ..?
