• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

If you truly meant XTL then you are comparing apples/oranges. XTLs are Motorola Mobile radios. Did you mean XTS portable radios? Because the XTS 2500/5000 was (and is) a great radio that can be found at a great price and the XTS line of radios still handles Phase 1 FDMA very well.
To each their own!
Comparing apples to oranges again (in my opinion) as the XG100P can be had for XTS pricing and is full spectrum with Phase II capability. I’m not sure that comparing the Harris XG100 P or M to an XTS or XTL at all is really a level playing field.

I don't know how far back you are talking , but I use RPM2 on my M7300s and my 100Ms. size and weight doesn't matter to me (they weight as much as an XTL brick ) I'm not carrying them around. they are in the back of the vehicle out of the way.
For whatever Harris reason, the 100P is not supported by RPM2.

I am referring to the moto fan boys that always bash Harris. I used to be a moto fan boy but I enjoy Harris much more.

Irrelevant. Other legacy radios are supported in RPM2
Not really. The XG-75 stayed relevant until about 2019, and the XG-100P was phased out around 2016. RPM2 support doesn’t change the actual lifecycle of those radios. Call L3H and ask. I'm sure the will get right to it and make it work for ya

No idea what you're on about, I was merely stating that them being "junk" and discontinued has nothing to do with them not having RPM2 support. There's plenty of other discontinued radios (XG line) that work with RPM2.

The reason the other "legacy" radios are supported in RPM2 is because when RPM2 was released with XLP/XLM200/185s circa 2015, there was no replacement and follow up directly for the 75Ps/25Ps/25Ms/75Ms. The XL-45P & 95P were not released until several years later as a replacement for 25/75Ps and XL-85Ms meant to replace 25Ms only came out 2 years ago. The 100P is and was replaced by the XL200P and thats why the 100P is not supported in RPM2.

And yes the 100P is junk.

Wow, this has devolved into bashing a product.
Your opinion is that it's junk. My opinion is that for what it costs to puchase 3 XG100P units, I still can't touch an APX 6K...

Dude my first all band radio was a 100P cause that was what I could afford and was a great entry product. However I now have so many all band radios up down and sideways, I have the ability to compare.
The 100P is a the cheapest all band on the market to date, however it doesnt even compare to the XL200s, APX8ks and NEXTs, and the KW VP8ks.

I wont get into the whole bootlicking of Moto and how people will pay stupid amounts of money for some POS APX7k in 2026...

I would love to get my paws on an XL200 or XL400. But they are out of my budget for right now. The VP8K would be nice also, but no ability to NAS. I have my HAM and GMRS, but I still have a few of the local public safety channels in my XG for fun (obv. with TX disabled). Also - I have no restriction on using my own unit for work if I choose. We are issued NX210G or NX200s depending on the day, so pretty much anything is an improvement.

The other one that looks appetizing is the BKR9000 but again... $$$$$

Like with any product, it was time for a new competitive model so the !00P was replaced by the XL200P which is smaller and lighter.
I will say, that the 100 isn't without its problems. I have one with a dead UCP on the side because the solder was cold and the connector came off the board, and the keypads are terrible. That being said, they are great for the price and they're a unique thing. You don't see too many of them around.

Especially in black and/or green. Lol
