Looks like you need 3.

2 to cover the Control channels, and 1 to cover the talk channels.

But it all depends on which control channels are actually being used. All the systems I monitor list between 3 and 5 control channels, but only 1 is used at the present time, the others are just backups in case the main CC fails, and will carry normal traffic on them as needed. So I just program in the one that is being used and ignore the others till I would have to switch to one of them if the main CC failed.

So in your case the 2 sdr's will be locked into the 773 and 856-857 range and not be able to switch to the 769-770 range of the talk channels, and you are missing out on transmissions. Add the 3 sdr and you should get everything. (this based on SDRTrunk)

What system are you trying to monitor?

And how about this one? All their frequencies are CCs, How can I figure out how many dongles I'll need? I know its like 2.4 mg offset, but I don't know what numbers in the frequencies? I really want to figure this all out and get running some of my feed on SDR's
Thanks

Might help if you name the software your looking to use. DSDPlus FastLane can do it with one dongle and I believe OP25 Boatbod will also.

at some point you might want to get a scanner...
I have 3 SDS200s, 1 SDS100, 1 G5, 1 BCD325P2, 2 396XTs, 2 325XLs, 2 996P2s, 1 BCD996T, 4 796ds, 3 785XTLs, some digital radio shack scanner, 5 780XLTs, an old Relm a Motorola APX8000 all band and so many other Motorola VHS and UHF radios. I think I'm good with the scanners, I want to learn the SDS hoby now.
