When selecting multiple counties and associated talk groups (within a single state), do I need to select a P25 Trunk System for each county/talk group OR will one Trunk System suffice.
Probably a basic question for the PROS.
(I'm using Butel ARC PSR500/600 programming software for a Radio Shack Pro 197)
Thanks for any assistance you can provice

Talk groups are part of a trunked system that may have multiple sites. You only need to program the sites that are closest to you because the talk groups are used across the entire system.

It appears that the closest sites to you in the NE State Radio System are Humphrey in Platte Co and Osceola in Polk Co and they are about equidistant from Columbus. You can set up a single trunk system with those 2 sites. Your System Type will be P25 Auto. You only need to enter the Red control channel and Blue alternate frequencies for each site. Set Multi-Site to Stationary so the system will scan both sites. You can set up the talkgroups for Platte Co and each of the surrounding counties in different scan lists with all assigned to the same common trunk system.

If you are programming a statewide system, you are limited to 32 frequencies specific to the operating frequencies. I am basing this on years of programming my GRE PSR 500. When I had to use more than one TSYS for a system, I would try to keep the sites for those talk groups together. It is a very tedious undertaking for large trunking systems.

If you want all of the systems, sites and talkgroups for statewide, you can set up areas of the state in V-Scanner folders in the scanner and load them into working memory without requiring a computer.
