To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I want to add conventional frequencies to be scanned in a knob position without each frequency having to use up another separate knob position. Without telling me it's a pager not a scanner, is there a way to do this?

Confused by the previous replies. I have several Phoenix FD VHF frequencies programmed in one nob position on a G5.
Take a look at G Series PPS Tab D, Page 6 Zone & Channel Setting. Add frequencies you want to scan from the "Available" at left to the "List Members" at right.

Those "available" channels must be existing knob positions. You can assign knob positions from other zones though.. that could be a work around. Don't know what the limit is, I managed to create a scanlist of 12 for a knob position. I am sure someone knows the limit, just don't use mine for VHF very much.

Think you missed what OP was trying to do he didn't want to use the available list from other zones/knob positions he wants to program them directly into one knob.

cant be done.

Sucks.

Right. If I want to scan say 28 conventional frequencies, I don't want to have to put each one in it's own knob position first and use up 28 knob positions over 4 zones just to be able to add 'em to a scan list on one knob position.

Yeah, you can not do that, and you are limited to 16 frequencies in a scanlist which is very slow and does not work well with more than eight frequencies in one scanlist/knob.

Correct it is a COMMERICAL PAGER that was first designed for Fire and EMS Departments to use on P25 Trunking Systems with the addition of CONVENTION and DMR for backups. The same can be said for the APX line not doing everything at the sametime.
