How to become a database admin?

How would one go about becoming a database admin or editor? I have a ton of NY info to add/edit but rather than inundate the dbas with corrections is there a way I can do it myself? (and help out with answering the other ones).

You will need to contact the Database Manager which is Eric Carlson, and see if the DB admins need anymore help for your state.

I also emailed Eric to apply for an Database Admin's position. I haven't heard back yet. Figured he's very busy updating the database or real world responsibilities.
