For Uniden SDS series scanners (like the SDS100 and SDS200), the official and required program is Sentinel. For advanced programming, virtual control, and recording, many users utilize third-party software like ProScan or Butel ARC536.

Sentinel is required to initialize a new sd card and to download Firmware updates and National Database.

ProScan is the best third-party software and has the most features.

If you are formatting, or reformatting an SD card, Uniden states the following on page 52 in the manual.

"SD cards should only be formatted using the special SD Card Formatter (home - SD Association downloads/formatter_4/). Then, you need to “Clear User Data” using Sentinel to restore all files and directories to the card. After formatting, the scanner won’t be automatically detected (since it is wiped clean), so you may need to uncheck “Hide empty drives” in Windows Tools>Folder Options>View before doing the “Clear User Data” step."

Might be late in the game, but...

Preparing a new SD card goes faster if you can put the blank card in a card reader and go thru the steps to include writing the Profile/Favorites Lists.

If you are still looking for a new card, the Endurance variety are recommended as they tolerate more read/write cycles.

Best to get and prepare two while you are at it. Spares are nice to have and they are not costly.
