First would be to ID whose System it is.

Is it Conventional ? If so then just enter it. You've ID'd the NAC

If it's a Trunked system, you need to find the Control Channels and program [for the newer scanners] ONLY the Control channels as Trunked to listen.

Its trunking frequencies and that is the control frequency 856.125.

al, your first task is to identify the system, as Bill was asking. Go up to the top left, under the site title, there's a blue toolbar that will say Database. Float your mouse over that, then use the various pulldowns to get to your state, county and so forth. C'mon back with that URL so we all know what it is you are trying to hear.

Next, are you programming your 106 manually or via software? If by software, which package? All of the big 3 (ARC500, PSRedit500 and Win500) can download data from our database when you purchase a subscription.

We have links to a cheat sheet for manual programming, an Easier to Read guide, an article with links to the software packages above and much more all posted here (all links are in blue)

I'll follow this closely. Just ordered a Pro-197. Using ARC500 and trying to program the Kansas P25 system in. I 'think' I have it figured out, but I'll stay tuned in.

Download the trial version of WIN or ARC, and use your premium subscription. That's the best, and easiest way.

And KD, DL ARC trial. They give you 2 free DL's from RR

I suspect it's this system:
Lower Rio Grande Valley Regional Radio System (LRGVRS) Trunking System, Varies, Texas - Scanner Frequencies

860.125 is the only listed control control channel for the Port Isabel site in Cameron County, but 856.125 is also listed for that site. Quite possibly, they are using it as an alternate control channel frequency.

Its trunking frequencies and that is the control frequency 856.125.
There's also a site at Rancho Viego in Cameron County, and another at Raymondville in Willacy, just to your north. Since each of the three sites only have one 'confirmed' control channel in the database, but you're now hearing, apparently, 856.1250 used as a control for Port Isabel, you might want to add the rest of the site frequencies for the other two sites (if you have them programmed), in case an undocumented alternate is in use.

Is it that simple? That's what I've done so far -- I just ordered a WS1040 for my first unit and I was trying to have everything lined up to dump it to the handheld when it arrives. The thing that seems odd is that I have my counties P25 talkgroups saved to a scan list and all I see is the talk group info on the bottom. Should there be a set of frequencies (I get the concept, multiple talkgroups share a set of frequencies) that I also need to program in or am I looking into this too far?

I should mention that after doing the web import, I only have TSYS data, the TGRP field is completely blank, which is what I'm questioning. Is there something I need to do to pull in this info or do I need to enter manually? If manually, where do I find this? Sorry if this is a real newbie question. I've tried searching but I'm not really finding what I need. Thanks!!

Sorry, got that backwards, I have TGRP data, NOT TSYS, which is what I think I need.
