This Q was asked two years ago on another site, but there was no response. My daughter is now riding one of the buses, so I'm looking to find freqs for this transportation system in the county or would it be one freq? Do you think each school would be on a separate one? I found one at 152.4350. Sounds like a dispatch calling out bus #s and a few directions. Or could it be that the system uses something like Nextel phones??? I'm guessing the drivers would not announce their stops, but might report arrival at the school or problems on/with the bus. Any thoughts/input would be appreciated for this concerned dad. Thanks. Yesterday's bus to/from home didn't go very well, but with time they'll get in the groove - touch wood. More thoughts. Maybe it's the contractor's comms system and not the county's. Wouldn't someone at the school be tied into the system?

There are 7 talkgroups (see database) that are on the Howard County System, none of them are transportation talkgroups. I can tell you that at least Mullinix busses are on a Nextel based system. In the past incidents that we have had here in the county, contact is made to the school board via telephone and then the bus companies are contacted via telephone. From that point I have to assume that the companies that have radios then call the respective bus. I did a quick search in the FCC database for names matching the few bus companies I know, and nothing found. I would assume that they would probably use a commercial radio service though. I will keep my ears open for anything.

Afterthought: The 152.435 is licensed in Howard County to Columbia Cab till 2011.
