Still having problems with distortion on approx 20% of transmissions on DPS system (Kent County) and AGC not controlling audio. Have great signal here in Harrington area. Tried atten both on off w/no change.
also, tried atten with no joy. some short transmissions are not readable at all.

So,Bob at this point HP-1 does not perform well on the Delaware state system? Thats what I was afraid of,my 396 was terrible.Thats why I have all Gre at this point.I was hoping the HP-1 was much better.I was going to get one ,But now I guess not,no sense having a nice screen and certain features if it dosent receive are system well. HP-1 distored audio.

Agree with your GRE performance. My 600 has been super. AGC also has no effect. Audio up and down. Atten off/on. Range changed min to max, still no help. Sensitivity min/max, no change. I've been using the tower at Felton which has a great signal, I can receive it 2/3 bars with the atten. on. Tried other towers with same problem. Other Gentleman on the forum is operating 5 HPs' all working great. Audio Dave, any ideas? Probably going to send it back to Uniden.

The guys up north(ncc) Seem to have no problems? When I had my 396 they said theirs worked good in the area.So I guess it is a Kent county issue or something but I know GRE work very good.John posted his new 800 does great even from Sussex he picks up Kent.Mike

HP-1 Distorted Audio

Just for a check ran up to Philly and found same problems maybe even worse 35/40% distortion. Ncc about the same as Kent...
Uniden has about a 6 to 8 week turnaround on repairs at present....You would think for 500$ there would have been some sort of quality control....what a POS!

HP-1 Distorted audio...fixed!

I had a "Eureka, I got it" moment last night.....Went to bed with HP-1 distorted audio plugged into my ear. All lights in house off. No Distortion.
Turned lights back on, distortion back on.
Changed all those chinese twisted turd bulbs back to the standard light bulbs. Problem almost 100% corrected. I notice I do seem to get a little interference from the computer wireless modem distributor but the HP-1 now does 98% clear decoding of P-25. I didn't notice this interference before on my digital ham gear but I guess that's better shielded....
I would hope Uniden takes note..

Interesting observation with the CFL's. I have a house full of them but they are brand name ones. I knew they could create some RF problems on shortwave (minimal in my case) but never thought they would affect 800Mhz. It may pay to spend a little more.

Glad you are finally able to enjoy the HP1 like I have.

Dave
