I'm having an issue with one of my HP1 scanners not closing its squelch immediately after transmissions on trunk systems. If it had the ability, I'd say the "End Code" option was turned off - except this happens on non-Motorola systems too. All the systems I'm listening to are 800 MHz - only because there are no systems in other bands in my neck of the woods.

At the end of transmissions, the scanner will sound like I've got the squelch too far down, causing static for anywhere from 1/8 to 3/4 second. My other HP1 has no "squelch tail" to speak of. The squelch setting in the HP1's software/firmware has no effect on the noise or its duration. Oddly enough, conventional frequencies (UHF and VHF comms mainly) don't emit this noise.

Am I forgetting some setting somewhere that will get rid of the squelch tail? I can see no differences in the programming of the two radios (the one that makes the noise and the one that does not) so I'm fearing I'm looking at a radio that needs service.
