I just took delivery of HP2. I am concerned about corrupting SD card transitioning from battery to wall wart with HP2 on. For example, I have HP2 powered on running on wall wart, now want to run radio on batteries.May I simply unplug the miniusb cable and the HP2 will automatically run on batteries without corrupting the SD card?
Thanks
.

Yes, presuming, of course, that the batteries retain a sufficient charge to operate the scanner. If the batteries were completely dead, there could be a problem, but none if the batteries have at least some charge left.

Thanks, I have related question, HP2 is powered on, running only on batteries, no wall wart connected, what happens when batteries run down? Will the HP2 shut down safely (auto turn off) without currupting SD card?

It should - yes. The same as if you turned it off using the power button. It will write the card and power down.
