Hi I am new to scanning and this is my first post ;))
I hate to ask this question because I bet 1000's have already done threads on it ;))

But how do I convert a .hpe file type to a csv format?
I have just bought a Uniden SDS100E HANDHELD FOR £700 and the free software Sentinel does not helps much.
It looks like I am suck on this?

Thanks in advance ;)

HPE files are used to transfer favorites lists from one copy of Sentinel to another. They can also be used to transfer files between HomePatrol Sentinel and BCDx36HP Sentinel. You can export HPE files from or Import HPE files to Sentinel. What exactly are you trying to do?

Look in the scanner's SD card in the "favorites_lists" folder for the HPD plain text version of your favorites lists (not the exported HPE files). They will look like... "f_000001.hpd" etc.

The HPD files are in a plain text format and can be directly opened in Excel, and from there "save as" CSV.

Wow many thanks to all the replied I am very grateful.
I should said what I was trying to do ;)
Because I come from the UK, I thought that the only way to hear my repeaters is to put them in my Favorites list as you said.
So though it would be easy to be a member and pay to get updates and lists I can download for my favorites list from the database witch is only downloadable in csv file type and pdf only so that's what I am stuck at but I will read what you said and see how to understand this all.
I will deffo look at the GitHub page too as that looks close to what I am trying to do but is there such a thing as a csv to hpe? I think I am missing the point but thank you all for taking the time to help a first timer on scanners :)) You are all VIP's to me cuz I have not much of an idea on programming apart from Chirp. I am sorry I made the tittle the wrong way round btw. I am an I.T guy so I am trying to find YouTube tutorials. wouldn't it be great If the database people gave you downloads of all files types :)) that would be a smart move because all I am seeing is the classic csv file not work on the latest radios.
Many thanks again

Since you have what you want in pdf and csv files, you can create a new favorites list in Sentinel, and copy the data from the pdf or csv files that you want and paste it into data into Sentinel.
