• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

So I need some help with my HT1000 I currently am running on two computers for programming a Dell desktop with windows XP 32 bit and a Panasonic Toughbook CF-19 running windows 10 64 bit (I run windows 7, 98, and xp in virtual box along with MS-DOS and the xp in the VM had worked with both my XTS3k and EF Johnson 5100). I have an after market rib box and cable and tried quite the few different things to be able to read the radio. I’ve tried running it in XP, in DOSbox, in Windows 7 ultimate 32 bit, MS-DOS 6.22 and have had no luck reading the radio and I’m not sure what else to try. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you're booting to a real DOS 6.22 and your radio is not recognized, I'd suspect your "after market RIB BOX and cable". Real DOS and a serial port is all that is needed. FWIW I've programmed a dozen HT1000s using a CF-19 booted to DOS 6.22 on a small partition, the difference is I have a genuine Motorola RIB and genuine cable, not that is necessary, but the quality of the aftermarket RIB boxes and cables vary greatly.

I use a CF-19 Centrino or Core 2 Duo desktop that was a Stargate 2 position booted either via a USB drive in the case of the CF-19 or PXE in the case of the desktop to DOS 7.1 from the Windows 98 boot disk. Works without a hitch...using a SRIB (it's just what is on my bench) in my case but the normal RIB works just fine as well.
