• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Thanks! There is a funny story behind this actually. I went to a Hamfest this past Sunday. A very nice guy, who is a Motorola guru and actually works at a pro shop, had an exact one like this on his person. I looked at it and instantly fell in love with it. Unfortunately, Moto-USA will NOT sell these blue cases. They come from Canada and you have to have connections up there to get one. Ebay has a few Chinese knock offs but no legit ones can be had from a certified US dealer. So, this guy goes to his vehicle and makes the mistake of showing me one in kit form, brand new that he still had. Wrong thing to do! I was NOT going to leave there without it. LOL..He gave me a good price, and I shelled out the bucks no problem....He wasn't looking to sell it, but I think he saw how much I liked it! Really cool guy!
So, now I'm a happy camper! :)

Wow... Lucky you! How hard was the install?

That's pretty helpful, if you ever come across one for an MTS2000 give me a shout!!

For Ham radio and GMRS work, It will be fine the way it is now! I like the PDF link though!

Manny

Do you monitor public safety stuff with it too?

The case is a tight fit. I did not do the install myself, I had a friend who does this for a living, do it for me.
I use it for Ham and GMRS which is what I have licenses for. I like to monitor almost anything analog. It's nice to have something that is rare.

The biggest pain in an HT1250 case install is dealing with the flex cable going to the accessory connector. It sits under a plastic sticker on the side of the radio and has to be rotated through a small hole in the side of the case, and then fixed in place with a new sticker. It's attached to a piece of PC board as well underneith the flex that has to be VERY carefully pried off of the case.

Oh yes, you are sooo right! I also had a tough time removing the display. It has a sponge-like black sticky trim which is atached inside to the front housing display window. I dam near broke the display trying to remove the original factory sealed one on my first HT1250 refurb. Thats why I let someone else do it this time!
