• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi. I have an ht1250 radio. It's almost done being programmed just needs to have a long tone (928.1) in the quik call ii decoding. Anybody know how to do that in the cps? I know how to do 2 tone. Not long tone.

And does anyone know how to hear the encoding 2 tone sets when u press the call alert and ptt button so i know when it's done?

It's a drop down menu option. If you are looking for just a long tone and no other tone I don't think it's possible.

As for the encode, you need to set up a side tone. I think by default it should already be set.

It should be able to do it, just use A-B/Long B and enter 928.1 in both A and B.

This doesn't work. FD near me uses a steady tone and it doesn't decode if you put the tone into both.

Ok then just enter another tone in A slot. Also be sure the long tone time is set low enough to decode. It has been close to 20 years but we serviced a fire department that still used a single long tone and it worked. let me know if it doesn't work like that and I can mess around on the bench in the next few days possibly.

I just tested and I had no issues with both A and B set as 928.1 A-B/Long B

Thanks. Also the 1250 cant decode mdc1200 id aliases like 1640 is MED 4 right? Just makin sure
If you have mdc system set to decode then yes you can have alias. However you can only have a channel decode for two tone OR MDC1200. not both.

Really? Cool. Where can i set up the list? Right now it's only doing the 4 digit radio ids.

Make sure your Signaling -> MDC system is set up correctly, and then go to CALL -> MDC Call -> make an entry for each unit you want to decode to an alias.

I would like to correct my previous statement. I just tried this out again and it worked for me just fine. It was probably user error when I tried it a few months back. My bad!

Not a problem, brought back memories of overtime looking at that CPS again.

Does anyone know what the volume section's alert tone volume offset should be set at in the alert tones/radio configuration tab? I want the quikcall ii beeps be controlled by the volume knob

Mine is set to -30
But also make sure "Alert tone fixed volume" isn't checked
