I still have my rat shack htx 202 and the internal battery went dead. I am looking for help to replace it. I don't know if I can do the job or send it off. I am open for thoughts?

I replaced the battery in my unit last fall. It's not overly difficult but you do need to take your time. The service manual comes in handy as well.

Don't forget to reset the CPU after you do that.

I love my HTX-202. It still has the best audio of any handheld I've ever owned.

The service manual is long gone. You stated reset the CPU. I don't understand, can you expand on that?
Thank you. Yes I too loved this unit for years.

Glad someone had the manual. I bought a hard copy from Radio Shack after I bought my radio. I usually try an get the service manuals soon after buying a radio.

Resetting the cpu also clears the memory of any corrupted data or settings and provides a clean slate to start a new configuration.
