Huge signal...

on 9410kHz from the BBC transmitting from Vatican City to West Africa - 0500UTC/1700 local with the news - 40dB over S9 thats 8millivolts! Perfect signal, no fading at all, I guess it could have been a long hop over the South Pole.

If their beam keeps going past West Africa (and over the South Atlantic, etc.) it eventually hits New Zealand, so my guess is you had good propagation and the signal just kept going. Mostly water path after W. Africa, although a polar region (and Antarctica) is in the way. Good catch, either way.
