HydraSDR RFOne firmware development and software support lacking?

Seems there has been only one firmware release since product introduction? Seems the software support is lacking, or is this not the case? I know , two different radios, but I look at Hackrf pro and it appears like much better software support. And it was just released.

Does anyone know if there are planned firmware updates for the Hydra or has it been abandoned?

It's not abandoned. My guess is that the author feels no firmware update is needed. The tools are available for any software author to incorporate support for the Hydra RFOne in their application. Some have, some haven't. I can run DSDPlus and SDRTrunk with a Hydra RFOne.

Thanks. I like the looks of the hardware but just would like to see further software support. May try one out, later. Even the lowly Mini ATS pocket radio has several software firmware variants which enhance its limited hardware. Do you find those two packages run well? Tried other software?

You don't indicate what you want to use it for. They work great with SDR++ and a few of its forks. As mentioned they work with DSDPlus and SDRTrunk. Sometimes if it ain't broke it doesn't need to be fixed.

Looking for alternative to Airspy R2. Just comparing different boards 3rd party, firmware, release efforts.

I made some enhancements to the HydraSDR firmware for anyone using gr-osmosdr under Linux. Changes include multiple device support (using s/n), better initialization, etc.

My Hydra boxes are my go-to SDR devices these days... IMO better than Airspy with regards to sensitivity and stability.
