• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Good day - I have read a good number of posts and still needing help finding a PW for the MD782.

I have a used 782 that no matter what version of CPS I use, I am unable to reset to default or read the radio due to password protections. The only thing I can actually do is "read reset logs" from any CPS I have. It tells me that the read reset log was successful.

Currently the radio has firmware A5.00.15.001, So far I have tried CPS 2, 5, 6, 9 and even tried some Tuner software and Flashburn sortware. With those last 2 I can not read the radio. The only way I see the radio talking to the computer is when using the "read reset logs".

Options?

Thanks for the help.

Update the firmware to a higher version, for which you can find a compatible CPS version and reset the radio to default factory settings.

Thanks for the quick reply...

I have tried V6.00.05.12.NA2 and I get the standard - "This radio data version does not match the default file"

Use the firmware tool to upgrade to a current firmware. I believe the current version is:

DMR_TerminalBatchUpgrade_Subscribe_TO_V9.02.04.001.iM_iN

Then use the matching CPS to reset the radio to factory state.

PORTABLE_i_CPS_V9.02.12.000.iM(NA2)

Open the CPS, go to Program and set your COM port, then go back to Program and click Reset Default Data. Once completed power cycle and read the radio.

Out of curiosity, do you know what's the meaning of "iN" suffix?

All v9 firmware is IN and it removed some Motorola infringing things like TDMA. I don’t recall what it stands for

I believe the (i) designation reflects the releases or revisions with removal of patent infringing Motorola features / techonology and (M) designated a major change in the architecture / format of the software. I thought I'd seen releases as (i) and later (iM) ?

The infringing Motorola technology features that were claimed and then validated by the courts included (they didnt win everything)

1. Fast Scan for RMO 2. Rapid Re-Key 3. Direct Mode Psuedo Trunking.

Think you mean dual capacity direct mode (#3) . Pseudo trunking is hytera proprietary and is still in current firmware. They took out what Hytera called TDMA, which was the same as Moto DCDM
