• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello Everyone !

I have three radios: HM785, HP785 and X1P

HM785 is sender
X1P and HP785 are receiver
I am trying to send a text message from HM785 radio panel to a group of radio stations.

Each radio station has a unique ID.
Each radio station operates on a digital channel (unencrypted) and can communicate by voice.
Each radio station has the following in its Contact list:

  1. No: 1
  2. Cal Alias: Call 1
  3. Call Type: Group Call
  4. Call ID: 1
Whe I try to send text message from HM785 panel to other recipients in the group, the only thing I see is a green LED informing that something has arrived on the channel. Unfortunately, the messages do not reach the HP785 and X1P.

Should I set something up or have I missed something ?

Are they all running the same data format? Can be hytera or the standard DMR format. Think its in digital common.

What about the other directions? X1p to HP785? X1P to HM? etc. etc.

Try sending direct to individuals as well as group messages (to help with diagnosis)

data bearer service is the one that used to allow switching between hytera and DMR standard SMS.

Is it working between HP and HM? Be aware that there are some issues between the HP cps and V9 radios, sometimes you need to use a V9 CPS to get all the options (for the X1P). I have this with my SFR enabled MD785, there are no SFR options in HP CPS, so I have to use V9 CPS for that. I have had HPs working fine with V9 radios and Pd365/375s, pretty sure they are all on hytera. I might have a dig around later to check. What CPS are you using?

My HP is in compressed IP and working with PD365s, PD985 in both private and group calls. Have you tried compressed IP?

Compressed IP, unfortunately, was unsuccessful. Radios communicated via voice, but text messages did not arrive.

I'm still considering these settings. Is everything OK here ?
Since Group Call does not work, I also tried Private Call, unfortunately without success, the receiving radio only lit the LED that something had arrived on the channel, but did not receive the message.

All those settings should be fine. Are you saying you haven't had as much as one succesful sms and you have tried HP-HM, HM-HP, HP-X1P, X1P-HP, X1P-HM. What you are tying to do should work. Last thing I can suggest is share your configs publicly or privately and we can take a look.

Correct.
What you are tying to do should work.

For example:
I can send Radio Check from HP to HM
I can send Alert Alert Call from HP to HM

But i can't send SMS for some reason.

One observation:
When sending an SMS from HP to HM or from HM to HP, I see data coming through the channel (the green LED is steady) and then suddenly the red LED flashes once at the end. It's as if the SMS is being rejected.

You probably have different authentication keys. Different than encryption keys. It should be in the DMR settings. I don't have a CPS next to me, but make sure you have the same key on all 3

over the air authentication turns on when the over the air decode is turned on. I don't think it's the default setting.

I think this option is only for (Radio Enable/Disable) + (Remote Monitor) features, and has nothing to do with sending SMS between radios.

I am having same issue between momentum hdp250 (Harris latest firmware), hp782, and pd782. I have all in compressed ip mode. I send a message to the group talk group. Does each radio have to have its own unique id even though the group is being used ? Some messages work and some don't between all 3 radios. They all have the same dmr individual id
Anyone. Figure this out ?

Yes, dmr basically requires all devices to have unique IDs to work correctly. I can’t be sure that will fix your problem but its a start.
