After having an improvised UHF radio installation for latter part of November and whole of December today was the day for a more permanent installation enabling me to once again have full access to UHF CB,VHF Marine and VHF/UHF amateur radio I dropped off the Tucson at CSE crosscom just before 9:30am with instructions to be creative and innovative for this installation after killing time at the other side of town made my way back down to their workshop surprisingly enough the other 2 techies were doing finishing touches whilst their supervisor my main techie i deal with quite often was dealing with clients on the phone

Unfortunately they ran short on time to install a touch screen multimedia player it would have taken a lil bit longer involving removing the single din cd player and cutting out the bottom sleeve to make that space suitable for double din so I'm going to be contacting the local in car audio specialists who aren't back open until Friday and see if i can get squeezed on Monday next week to get the stereo installed

I am not ashamed to admit that the total bill was umm yeah just over 1k as it took then about 3.5 hours alone to install the radios and antennas adding in my mate the head techie had to call in his other 2 workers who had finished other jobs to give him a hand to get it done faster plus they installed a top of range monopole 477Mhz antenna instead of a standard GME 4.5dbi antenna thankfully because of being a regular client for well over 10+ years he took a few $$ off the total price down to $990 thankfully there was a few hundred dollars left over from last years weekend away and was able to pay first amount up front on my Buy Now Pay Later payment schedule now i only owe just shy of $740 which will be $200 less next week

Well, first off, I wouldn't pay them anything until they move the steering wheel back to the left side of the car. Sorry--you knew it was coming--I was just wanted to get it out of the way.

Nice install--looks like you're covered for talking to just about anyone, anywhere. Where did they put the main radio units? Under the seats or behind the dash? Also, how prevalent is CB use in Oz? Is it used mostly off-road or everywhere? I realize that your CB is UHF, and we operate between 26-27MHz--so it's not really equivalent. There are still CB pockets in the US, but I don't think it's as popular as it used to be during the "Convoy" era. Last question, then I'll leave you alone... how'd they work the antennas? Any pics?

I hope I'm not pestering you with questions. We see lots of US installs, but it's always cool to see some from other countries, hence my interest. Thanks for sharing!
