If someone has knowledge or experience of the Interstate 5 (I-5) CHP frequencies used by the CHP between SR 152 (Los Banos) and US 58 (Buttonwillow-Bakersfield), I would appreciate some help. I’ve listed below what I normally monitored; but I’ve found many times the CHP must be using different freqs than these because I never hear the routine traffic after a CHP unit has stopped someone along I-5. Most of the CHP traffic can be heard using the standard 42.XXX CHP frequency series. But there are times as I just mentioned that you don’t hear the traffic along this section of I-5.
My monitoring sequence along I-5:
I’ assume that you should monitor 42.600 (Buttonwillow-Bakersfield coverage area) from Buttonwillow north to around Kettleman City on I-5. This is based upon my assumption that 42.500 (Bakersfield freq) applies to Bakersfield along US 99, not I-5.
From Kettleman to Los Banos, I usually monitor 42.880 (Los Banos area) and/or 42.440 (Coalinga area).
If there are other frequencies being used by the CHP along this section of I-5 that someone has good knowledge of, I would appreciate any help.
