I guess I'll just make due with my Icom IC-R3. I've been researching and contemplating buying a trunk scanner, but I keep running into issues. I can't afford $500 for a digital model. The non-digital model will be useless as my community moves to digital. On top of it all, encryption may make it all useless. I'd love to get the Pro 95 on sale for $149, but I fear it's trunking capabilty will be short lived as we go digital here in Orlando. My Icom is nifty, but doesn't follow trunk channels. Why does everything have to be so complicated.

Trunking and digital don't have anything to do with each other. You can have analog and digital trunked systems, and analog and digital conventional as well. If you really want to hear these agencies, you'll find the $$ for a digital scanner. As long as encryption isn't going to be the norm, of course.
