Went up to boone today and took the test for Ham Technician and passed it with flying colors. I was one away from a perfect score and i am mad cause i know what question it was too just by process of elimination. I can't wait to get my callsign to start chattin

Make sure to give us your call sign when you find out so we can find you on the local repeaters!

I was surprised how short the wait was for my call to show up in the FCC database... it took 5 days is all after I took the test at ISU last October.

Those repeaters are the ones I frequent the most, and starting today (if UPS delivers my package this time) I will be playing with the new D-STAR system.

Also, congrats on graduating Metro West. It sucks though that DM isn't expecting to hire at all this year because of the budget cuts.

I havent been around for awhile, but congrats!!!

Remember Sheldahl is on a linked system all over the state... I'm on sheldahl thru the Humboldt Iowa UHF Repeater sometimes...

AFAIK it is linked up with one of the Des Moines repeaters, so really you will be on many repeaters at once.

does anyone know if it is linked to any of them out in Cedar Rapids/Marion area? Thanks to all for the kind words for the west metro and other things. i applied to switch tonight to kd0isu.

That page has most of the linked system mapped out for central Iowa. I don't think a central Iowa repeater is linked to the Cedar Rapids area. The Grimes 443.400 repeater is linked to Cedar Falls, but I think that's about as far as you'll get into the Cedar Valley.

I hope you get that one instead of the KD4ISU you applied for... I hate it when out of area people take the Ø area calls and vice versa
