I reset my BCD996T and directly imported form RR, but I still do not get Bryant PD. I logged for 12 hours and it never showed once. I get other AWIN agencies but not them. Anyone know why that would be? I am hoping it might be a scanner setting, but I don't know which one. No groups are locked out.

Thanks

The RR database shows Bryant Police Tactical and Dispatch on AWIN as encrypted.

Yep, if encrypted then this would be why. Sorry...I hate when monitoring becomes impossible...

I always say it never hurts to politely and professionally talk with the police chief, mayor, or city council members about the reasons to not encrypt main dispatch channels and only encrypt a select few for special operations. It might not help but then again it might.

I understand how you feel. I live in Russellville, and our PD is fully encrypted, too. It is what it is. (shrug) I guess that we should be grateful that we can still listen to most services, though, and not lament what we cannot monitor.

Thanks for the info. I actually ask my police friend about it and he told me why they decided to encrypt their signal. Oh well that kind of burst my bubble.

What was the reason he gave? I have a feeling I know what he said...it's likely the typical answer they give, however much credit it lacks.

It seems they were having several thefts at a equipment rental place. Turns out a reserve Saline County deputy was assisting the thieves by monitoring Bryant police traffic. When the officers got busy on the other side of town, they would grab equipment and drive away.

Oh wow. So I guess this other deputy wouldn't have access to the BPD channels for interop? (They are the same county, right? I'm drawing a blank.) On one hand I see the point but then for interop reasons I'd think they'd have/need to have access to BPD's channels anyway. Maybe not.

No need for direct to BPD as the AWIN has plenty of other options for interop. They have a rock solid case for secure coms on that one, and will use that one in court when they go to trial on this one. Sucks for us all that an "fellow brother in law" ruined that.
