Icom: IC-706 Shift issues

Ok i have a great radio in my Icom ic 706 in which when I talk to locals on 145.7750 I can hit my repeater which is over 50 miles away no problem but locals say Ive not got my offset set properly ,i powered down restarted by holding lock & then power go to N017 set the offset to -600 restart but still Im having the same problem what am i doing wrong ???

I really don't know, but did you save the offset in menu before exiting.

Also this topic is for Icom receivers you should ask a moderator to move it to the Amateur Radio Equipment topic, as it may get more views for people that could help.

If you can access a repeater that's 50 miles away, then your -600 offset should be working. Otherwise you couldn't trip it at all.

Try find out exactly what the locals mean when they say your offset isn't set 'properly'. You'll get a better answer then..

If you're hitting the repeater and hearing it ID, I don't understand the issue either.

The menu setting for the offset is correct, are you saving the frequency and offset to memory?
