There is no such thing as "DSTAR software" other than what comes on the radio as firmware unless you are talking about gateway software.

Your link was to a warez site which provides pirated copies of commercial software. We do not condone, nor will we allow you to publish such links on this site. Do not do it again!

Thank you.

Thanks for that, I stand corrected, there are software products to enhance DSTAR radios and use... :D

However, the link provided by the OP was a warez site only providing pirated copies of commercial software for programming radios (including Ham, LMR, Marine and Avionics (scary thought)). So the warning to him/her still stands. ;)

Yes there are, I didn't say there weren't. Your problem is that you fail to understand the copyright laws both of the US and the rest of the world.

As for your UserID and password, that is simple and entirely up to you, just log out and don't ever come back.

I thought DStar was an open protocol developed JARL. I didn't
know anyone had a copyright on it. Learn something everyday.

The D-star protocol is open-sourced, there have already been homebrew radios built.

You have confused the issue.

Its not the DStar protocal that is copyrighted - its the programing software that
icom markets to its customers for programing the DStar radios.

No one said it wasn't. I will repeat, there was no DSTAR software on the link supplied by oregonham1, only programming software for Ham, LMR, Marine and Avionics. That is not DSTAR anything, that was copyrighted software.

Yes the ICOM V82 with the UT-118 is D-STAR compatible as is the ICOM U82, the ICOM 2200H with the UT-118 is D-STAR compatible as well. The ICOM 91A with the UT-121 is D-STAR compatible as well, while the ICOM 91AD is D-STAR ready. The ICOM ID-800 and ID-1 are D-STAR ready, while the the ICOM 2820H with the UT-123 is D-STAR compatible.

So far, at least here in the US, it looks as if only ICOM has D-STAR radios. However there has been a Kenwood version that is really nothing more than a re-labeled ICOM ID-800 that has been shown at locations outside of the US.

This is off topic. Please read the thread.

Once again, this thread is not about DSTAR radios, it was an announcement about how to illegally obtain programming software for Icom radios; DSTAR had nothing to do with it.

Since this seems to be so confusing to everyone and the OP has decided he can't be bothered to follow the law, this thread has no purpose in remaining open.

Closed.
