I just revceived an ICOM F4S-A but it didnt come with a charger. I plugged a 12V into it and it said high voltage, but a 6.5 V AC adapter was not enough. What do I need to charge/use the radio? Also, what cable and software do i need to program this, and where does the cable to program it plug into? Do I need a cable to program it, or can I do it manually without one? thanks! -nick

I don't own one, so some speculation is all I can do:

Probably limited to no manual programming, since it lacks the keypad that other models have. Also, everything seems to tout "PC Programmable" as opposed to "Field Programmable".

A 10v charger is probably not what the radio wants. If no harm comes from wrong voltage charger, than it couldn't hurt to try. You can probably find the right charger on Ebay, though.

Having difficulty finding the cables and software, though. I know I've seen them because I was going to buy an F30GT.

Alright, change that last post:

Go visit this site (this link brings up a search for "IC-F4S"):
http://www.ameradio.com/search.html?search=ic-f4s&Find.x=0&Find.y=0

You'll find the cable and software, as well as just about anything else you could possibly want. They even take Paypal. I ordered stuff for my Kenwood and they delivered no problem.

BTW- the products you need are:

Software: CS-F3
Programming cable (also clones available on Ebay): OPC-478
USB Programming cable (optional instead of the OPC-478): OPC-478U

There's too many chargers to pick one, but you can see what's available and pick which works best for you. Could always just call or email and get advice too.

Hope this helps!

I would go for the OPC-478U, when I ordered an OPC-478 they sent me a USB one anyway, which is fine by me.
