I have temporarily acquired some ICOM FR4000 repeaters and a NOS (sealed) FR3000 CD that I installed on an Win XP computer. I ordered a programming cable on eBay (USB) and installed to prolific drivers. When trying to read the repeater, I get (after a slight delay) 4 short beeps and then a message to check the RS232 cable. The cable I purchased appears to be a generic cable for ICOM (USB to 8 pin modular cable). I already had one for the F621 that looks identical, but I receive the same error. I also had (what was in an open box, an OPC1122, but that appears to be only a cat 5 cable and a RJ45 to a DB9 adapter.) The EBAY seller, it appears, lists are the ICOM models that probably has an 8 pin modular mic plug. I am at the correct comm port, checking device manager for the USB port. Does the baud rate remain at 9600?, or is there something else I am missing? Any ideas?
