My best friend passed away the first of January this year. He left me all of his Amateur radio equipment. At one time he owned and flew a Cessna 172. In among the ton of equipment and parts he left to me was a Icom IC-23A handheld Airband transceiver. I do enjoy monitoring both Civil Airband and MilAir.
I have downloaded the manual for the 23A. I haven't found ( yet) if it has a lock out feature to prevent accidentally transmitting.
Does anyone in this group use a 23A for monitoring ? If so, how does it compare to a regular scanner like the Uniden BC125AT? I have that scanner and others. But, I don't know if I should keep the Icom or sell it.
