• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello. First post. I'm sorry if this has been covered before but I didn't find this problem here before so I'm going to ask about it.

I have two separate Icom radios that will not transmit on some channels (frequencies) but work fine on others. This leads me to believe that there is something in either my .icf file of possibly something in the radio itself causing it. The first radio I experienced this with is an IC-F6121D mobile radio. It operates fine when setup with amateur radio frequencies but it will not transmit on GMRS frequencies. The transmit inhibit is not selected in the programming software.

The other radio is a IC-F4161DS radio. I actually have several of these radios (I think I have 6 total) but only some have a similar problem as the 6121D. It isn't an identical problem though. With the 4161DS radios I have a group that I named "private" and within that group I have a couple frequencies set at 440.5 and 440.525 and set as digital. One radio will flash the display and not transmit on either frequency in that group but one radio will transmit once or twice before it will start flashing the screen and no longer transmit on either frequency in that group. When I turn the knob to select a different group both work fine on any of those frequencies in those groups.

I used the same .icf to program three IC-F4161 radios that I'm testing and have three different results. One radio works always on all programmed frequencies, one radio will never transmit on either frequency in the "private" group and one radio will transmit once (or sometimes twice) and then stop transmitting in that group.

Where should I be looking to figure out what is causing this problem on either the mobile or the HT radios?
