I came across an icom ic-R7000 at an auction but when I got the thing home it did not power up on the AC cord,I have not tried the DC as of yet
I checked the fuse holder in the back of the unit but the fuse was good
are there any fuses inside on the board of this unit or is the one in the back of the radio all there is,
I have not cracked it open yet as I thought I would ask some of you guys first,
I have very limited understanding of these things as I am just getting started in the Hobby
I will try to up load some pice
thanks for any advice you may have

The DC jumper plug is missing. You need that to run the R7000 on AC. Its a small white plug with a jumper that goes into the white plastic socket to the right of the AC socket. It should run OK on 12VDC if you have the correct cable.

Missing jumper, the two pins nearest the pointed in need a jumper. For DC 12v operation (also recomended for long term use off 12v supply because of heat issues with internal) the two outer pins are 12 v operation the one at the square end is negative and the pointed end is positive .

thanks for the help guys
I did get this wire with the radio
I will try to power it up with the 12vt later today if I get time
I first want to make sure I understand about the wire jumping thing so I don't burn any thing up,
I am assuming the silver wire is the POS./Hot

Get out your meter and check to be sure. Use David's instructions above to make sure which lead goes to the corresponding pin on that molex connector.

Connector can be had at Radio Shack

No jumper needed for 12v, positive pin at pointed end of connector, pin at square end is negative second pin in from pointed end is 12v out from internal power supply and must be jumped to 12 positive pin to power radio from internal supply. I run all my R71, R7000, R72, R7100, R8500 radios from regulated 12v power whenever possible to keep heat generated by the internal supply out of the radio, also at this age the internal may need work on the caps.

Don't assume anything like that - unless you want to let all the smoke out!

Confucious he say 'One test worth thousand assumptions'
