Icom R8500 remote

I recently purchased the reomte software and cable. It works fine except I do not have any audio at the computer audiio jack. I must plug the headphones into the radio in order to hear it. Why doesn't the audio appear at the computer? Anyone else have this problem?

I'm not familiar with the software you are using, but does the cable supply audio to the computer? If not, connect a speaker wire from the back of the radio (external speaker jack) to the line-in jack on your computers sound card.

I use Ham Radio Deluxe to remote all my Icom radios including the R8500.

The R8500 and previous receivers either use the CI-V protocol via RS232 with either the CT-17 or as with the R8500 the converter is built in to the radio. There is no audio carried in a low bandwith connection such as this, only the newest Icom radios with the USB interface have audio encocded with the USB connection.
