• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I’ve only used personality mode which loads slow and when I hit send I think the computer locked up until finally the progress bar begins to move. I’ve only been successful using spreadsheets with ID’s. Deleting can be slow, but not as slow as Mototrbo 2.0.
ARM version of windows has not been accommodated by a lot of vendors as of yet. Tower of Babel wasn’t a one off…

I don't know what it is about D1N on the Windows/ARM. There is a translation layer that does reduce CPU performance but I've never seen that cause an app's UI to literally lag. They must be executing some really inefficient code in response to literally every character typed.

Btw, I got my LMC issue worked out. Got a few extra seats on the account key so I activated it in the VM on my M1 Mac. And voila, it activated the radio just fine. Go figure I guess.

I see UI lags, losing keystrokes, etc. in KPG-D1N on a modern Win11/AMD laptop. :(

I’m encouraged! I need to get some more seats. I’m on an unscheduled trip for a week so I’ll be delayed with my attempt.
To reiterate, USB cable does work?

Yes, works for me. Again I did NOT attempt to install the Kenwood drivers. Just plug it in and a COM port showed up using the default Windows driver.

Also, as I mentioned, you can use the LMC to activate software without an account key seat. Of course you'd have to deactivate D1N on your other PC first, unless you were talking about buying a second D1N license.

More Mac VM stuff. My M4 VM win11pro arm cannot connect to my KDFShield kvl loader. Software runs but cannot find device. I haven’t banged away at it yet.
