SDR-Control for Icom works well but the scanning feature is not fast. The reason for this is explained in the manual. I do use this software with the 8600 and other radios and i like it

I hope that Bob might narrow his question a bit, but if you have a Mac (or an iPad) then SDR Control is an excellent product. I've been using it to play with WEFAX this weekend (feels like 1995...
