R8600 Icom R8600: What Are You Monitoring?

Just rec'd mine this afternoon and listening to anything and everything I can. I am using an end-fed PAR 40-ft wire antenna outside for HF, and a Diamond discone outside for vhf/uhf. This radio, once I had it tuned in and everything set just right, is amazing. Pre-amp for HF is very good. have a feeling it's going to be a late night tonight!

In addition to the other things to monitor on the R8600, for fun I tried the 88-108 FM broadcast band. Some of you know I have my R8600 running through my Sony STR-D790 A/V receiver with Bostons, so local FM BCs are very crystal-bell clean and music repro is quite impressive. Naturally, I use WFM for this. Being the R8600 runs to the D130J, I can DX on FM as well. Just hit preamp and for instance, right now I have 93.1 KFBK at 117 miles.
Just another cool thing about the R8600. It does FM broadcast quite well!
