Does anyone have any experience with the iCom Remote Control software (RS-BA1) and the IC-7300 HF radio? We currently have one installed, and we are looking at an "enhancement" project to buy a second radio, and also relocate them to the radio shelter to remove 150' or so of antenna line. However, we'd need to set up a remote control. Looking at the software page, it looks like the IC-7300 is not IP ready and requires a server in between the radio and the operator's interface. If this had been the original plan I would have picked a radio that had native IP capability, but that's scope creep for you.
Fortunately, we have network switches at both locations and can allocate a separate VLAN so the radio traffic stays isolated. Aside from removing the extra antenna line, the purpose is to monitor two directional antennas simultaneously. Currently, there is an RF switch at the radio for both feeds. High reliability is desired, though I have already identified a few vulnerabilities (such as backup power) with this scheme.
Can you control two radios with the software?
