Buy the CT-29A from rt systems it is the same as the OPC478 sold by ICOM for the V8 but it is half the price.

Does mean you are using an amateur radio unit on you county EMS channels?

If he is, that's up to him to deal with if/when he's caught.

As for me, I've found that my Icom T2H is great for listening to public safety comms as well for using it on two meters. I also end up reprogramming parts of it every few weeks, I just am too cheap to buy the software and cable for an $80 radio

I agree, using the V-8 it LISTEN to the county is fine, I use
my Icom IC-2100H to listen to eveything around here in
Southern Maine.....but it's his @$$ if/when he gets caught
TRANSMITTING on it on Public Safety frequencies.

Once again reinforcing the fact that I'd rather own a Motorola and program some of the modes for hammy frequencies...

Icom makes a type accepted LMR radio that is almost identical to the ICV8. The IC F3GT is the commercial version and can be had for around $300. We have them at work and they work great on 2 meters as well. /\/\ is 3 times as much.
