I got mine from Radtel. Other than the usual not having a clue how to do..anything but put frequencies into it (Air and Rail), it worked as well as I could hope. If I set the squelch to 1, it pops a little when I'm using it at the area I listen to most. 2 seems OK, and Even with the whip, the squelch rarely was strong enought even at 2 to silence it, unless it was the stock duck, which seems to be a throwaway item. Kind of like some of the awful ducks that a lot of scanners came with over the years.

It's not going to be super sensitive on MW, and to be realistic, you definitely don't really want that in a handheld or smaller unit, it overloads too easy if it's as sensitive as SW is. I tossed about 20 feet of wire onto an sma connector and was hearing a lot on MW and SW. My main interest with this radio is Rail and Air and it seems to do rail really well with the "tactical" antenna I bought from Radtel labeled 136-512MHZ. I ordered an Airband "tape measure" antenna from Radtel along with some sort of case for the radio, and an SMA/BNC adaptor so I can put all my antennas on it.

I'm not going to even mess with v.23 of the firmware, I will wait for one to get "approved" by other users.

Baofeng radios are also very good for rail monitoring...much better than the expensive digital scanners
