I get stoped on a regular bases by cook county for having a qoute on quote sucipious car and get read the riot act about antennas. I advise the officer its protect under federal law and produce license and we go on are way. So be it...education is a powerful tool if used right and not disrepectful.

What do you think makes your car looks suspicious, certainly not a couple antennas? When you say they read you the riot act, about what? Sounds like there might be more to the story?

Impersonating a police officer comes to mind, or since you outfitted your vehicle to resemble a police vehicle might draw attention? My lil old SDS 100 sits in my cup holder of my 2019 Ford Explorer, without any antennas plastered all over the vehicle, no special ham plates and been through a few states, and no police officer has stopped me. Having scanners and laptops and all those other "distractions" would also cause me to take a 2nd look at you. Like I've said previously, don't bring attention on yourself and you'll be fine, even if you wave federal laws and licenses at them. Keep doing that, and you'll probably receive a citation because I'm sure you didn't make a complete stop along the way...lol!

It was a rural road (2 lane) on the outside of town near a cornfield. Truck was running with the lights on well off the roadway.

I hear usually at least a couple of times per day an Officer or Deputy or Trooper checking on a stopped car, reports the driver was just making a call or replying to a text, and then goes on their way. They're stopping to see if the people need help, car disabled, medical problem, whatever. I personally think that's a good thing i.e. they're doing their job but to each their own.

I've never personally heard of anybody getting stopped for having antennas...and I've seen some vehicles around that are almost in the league of the one pictured. Inappropriate lights, yes, but never for antennas.

Ever see a episode of the old Hawaii 5-0? Dano orders someone to go to a address and arrest anyone with an antenna on their vehicle. Every time i see the scene I laugh. Screenwriters can be dumb or clueless.

I think it depends on the cop's mood and what he considers an "electronic device". Cops around here love ticketing for phone use. My hang up is they made this law first offence is a moving violation to your record. Three in a year and you lose your license. I really don't think it's going to stop people. When I'm working up in the air near an intersection I see people staring at their phone and blaze through the stop sign without ever looking up. Since I have a CDL I have to fly straight.
