Ok, just wondering if your fighing with a suspect and you need help 10-18, Does that not delay help or would you just hit the E button??

I don't think the 0.25 to 0.5 second delay is significant in calling for help.

It doesn't delay your input...it just delays the output. There is no loss of audio after you get a talk permit or hit the emergency button. Don't confuse delay with loss of audio because there is none in this process. The delay is actually your friend in this case because it is getting your audio through with presice timing so that the entire system gets your call for help, not just the repeater you happen to be accessing at that time.

A half second isn't really that much...especially if it means you get it right the first time.

Ok thanks, so can key up say whatever and the system rec. it and plays it 0.5 seconds later Right?? F.S.??

Njay, If your on the ground fighting with a guy with a gun or knife or worse a needle then any delay is bad..

In effect yes. Don't think of it so much as a delay but more as a process. The audio has to go through a process to get it from point to point and it just takes a little bit longer than good old fashion analog conventional repeaters. There is still a slight delay with any simulcasting or digital process. Like I said, the more processes the longer the delay.

You have to draw a line somewhere.

And if you really believe 0.5 second makes a difference, then so be it.

(These are the first responders risking life and limb to get to the scene a second or two sooner!)

Actually I am going to have to agree with NJay. The half second really isn't making a difference. You are still yelling for help the same way you always would.
