Even in 1937 they knew to work a contest with a honeypot calling CQ.
It would have also served as auxiliary heater in the house.

That's no joke. When I had my Ameritron AL-80A amplifier, it would raise the room temperature. And that was with one 3-500Z.

The tube guys make me smile: "Real radios glow in the dark" and "Hollow-state technology." I've heard some great signals on the air with those.
