• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I have an APX6000Li and recieved a new battery (PMNN4573A) yesterday afternoon, took it home and dropped it in the charger for a "recondition" took it a bit to start. Woke up this morning to a charge complete light on the charger (took all night to recondition). Pop it in the radio and all goes well for about 15 seconds then I start getting the low battery alert, but when I scroll over in the menu to Batt, its showing the charge at 100%, remaining capacity at 4558, and 10 estimated charges.

What can i do to get the radio to recognize the charge of the battery?

Is the battery an original or copy. The price will tell you. Original ia around 200. Copies are a crap shoot.

I believe that's a UL battery, do you have any reason for the UL listing? Also what's the date code?

Even original batteries have issues with internal sensor electronics and easily get damaged. The result is exactly what you describe; even after full charge cycle radio complains that the battery is low and also can throw an "Invalid battery" message. There is a trick to fix that. Use thin strip of adhesive tape and cover middle battery contact so it does not make contact. Radio will not report low battery anymore. Only issue, you will not see battery icon on display.

For some reason I recalled there was certain batteries that required a firmware version. With that in mind I managed to find this. It may not be your problem at all but it may help others if they find this in the future.

I do not have the radio on me at the moment to check the date code. The batteries are supplied by the district and therefore they purchase as they wish.
Due to other minor issues I'm having, I wouldn't doubt that the firmware is out of date on the radio compared to the battery. The radio probably hasnt been touched since initially programmed right after purchase.

FWIW- TXWARN, Brazoria County, APX6000Li BN

ETA- I am not a big fan of off brand batteries, the radios are Impres 2 capable for a reason. Ive always let the batteries do recondition cycles, and watch the capacity and charges. Others in the agencies dont. I watch it because I know what it means.
I went from a off brand changchung battery missing a battery tab, to a full moto and had nothing but issues so far.
