Hi there,
I just recently purchased an Uniden SDS 100.. I just purchased a larger capacity battery and Charger, Question is, would I be able to use the charger that came with the larger battery and charge both the stock battery and the larger capacity battery? Any info or help is greatly appreciated. TIA

As far as I know, the original battery used in the SDS100 has long been discontinued, and all new SDS100s are shipped with the larger capacity battery, for the last several years. In short, yes, both batteries should be chargeable in the external charger.

The question is, though, is if your '100 came with the original smaller battery, do you have (or will get) the replacement battery cover, which has the extra room to support the thicker battery? If your '100 is new, or made in the last 5 years, it should already have the bigger cover and the bigger battery. (But it's always good to have a spare!)

And just so you know, I, too, have an SDS100, with the external charger, etc. Just be sure you get a good antenna, though. The one that comes with it is.....not very good. Otherwise, fantastic scanner.

Both the origional smaller battery AND the newer larger battery will work with the external charger.

Both charger and the scanner will charge a battery with a constant 500mA current so it will take 11 hours to charge the big battery and 7 hours for the small. The big are charged at a friendly 1/10 of its capacity current and the small with a slightly more damaging 1/7 rate but nothing alarming. Both batteries have an internal temp sensor that are used to totally switch off charging if the temp reach a level where the battery could take damage.

Very odd that a new SDS100 would come with a smaller battery... Perhaps NOS?
